Date Night in Phoenix

A few weeks ago, I asked D if we could go on a date night.  We have been in Phoenix awhile and we most certainly have gone out to eat, but we had not really gone out on a proper date.

Friends that moved to Phoenix from the Bay Area over 8 years ago had recommended that we Cowboy Ciao in Scottsdale.  I had made several reservations before, but ultimately cancelled them as we decided on more casual options.  Date night seemed like the perfect opportunity to try it!

We opted to go with mocktails and sodas with dinner.  It was fun to enjoy the same drink sans alcohol.  D enjoyed a Mexican Fresca, refreshing!

We ordered appetizers: burrata layered heaven for me and perfectly seared scallops for D.

For dinner, we enjoyed the mushroom pan-fry and the pork shank.

We capped off the evening by heading to the Desert Botanical Garden for the first time.  They have a Chihuly exhibit running and several nights they offer Chihuly at night.  As we drove from downtown Scottsdale to the garden, we could see the Chihuly lighting up the hill.

It was such a special way to finish the evening appreciating the extraordinary composition of his glass pieces lighting up the night sky.  Very happy that we decided to join the Desert Botanical Garden so that we can go back for other exhibits.

:-) I love dessert. Find it a little amusing that we have left two restaurants recently with very long lists of places to try….our food bucket list is growing, now I must get back to writing here….
